I was born in Salem, Massachusetts and I’m forever grateful to my parents for choosing that magical city for our home. (The fact that they chose Halloween eve for my birthday made it even better.) Memories of growing up in Salem--fortified by annual visits there—provide the locale for my Witch City Mystery series, replete with history, Halloween happenings, a most mysterious cat and of course, murders.
My husband Dan and I now live in Florida – offering the warmer, different, but every bit as fascinating background for my new Haunted Haven Mystery series featuring an attractive small-town setting, far away from the theme parks but virtually teeming with ghosts, a friendly golden retriever and—you guessed it—more murders. .
It is always fun to get together with other writers. Here I am with BonSue Brandvik, the author of the Spirits of Belleview Biltmore series, and Rita Moreau, the author of the Ghost & Camper Kooky Mystery series.
Ever since I was a little girl I've known that I wanted to be a writer. A voracious reader, whose letters to Santa usually consisted mostly of book titles, I never lost sight of that goal and have been blessed along the way with opportunities fulfilling the childhood dream. I was happily employed for many years as an advertising copy writer and later branched out into writing non-fiction articles for magazines and newspapers—specializing in travel, antiques and collectibles and nature. An avid reader of mysteries ever since my Nancy Drew and Judy Bolton days, it seemed natural that my fiction writing efforts would reflect that preference. I still enjoy reading mysteries and absolutely love writing them!
I’m what’s known in the business as a “pantser,” not a “plotter.” That means I write “by the seat of my pants” and sometimes I’m just as surprised as the reader is as my amateur-sleuth protagonists--Lee in the Witch City books, with the help of O’Ryan the cat and Maureen in the Haunted Haven series, aided by Finn, the golden retriever—finally catch the killer!
Becoming an author has enriched my life in many ways. I have been honored to be invited to sit on panels at Bouchercon, Sleuthfest, Florida West Coast Writers, Bay Area Professional Writer's Guild, Florida Mystery Writers of America and Murder on the Beach.
As a member of PInellas Writers, Florida West Coast Writers, Novelists, Inc, Florida Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime I have the opportunity to meet with fellow authors to share tips and tricks about our craft.
Here i am standing in front of the end cap at Barnes & Noble in St. Petersburg, Florida..
I was honored to be one of the authors selected to represent Kensington Publishing on their end cap display.
I want to give everyone at Kensington a special round of applause for all that they do for me -- and special thanks for the beautiful covers that they have created for my books. O"Ryan loves them, too!, He loves being the cover model...
